In Japan and South Korea people like robots working around the home, but in Europe the
robot industry is years behind. Experts say that robots probably won''''t take over the planet, but help handicapped and old people
to carry their laundry or dishes and become a companion for
these people.
However, the abilities of the robots
are limited, because their
sensors are unable to identify an object if it does not look like it should.
Will Wright, the creator of the games SimCity and The Sims, and his team design robots that can interact with human beings. These are special "living" appliances and furniture enhanced with voice recognition, which means that the fridge won''''t open unless you have a conversation with it. In time, these machines will have relationship with humans:
they may like or dislike them depending on how they treated them, and when no one is home, they will talk to each other and gossip.
